Recipe: Serradura

Hi everyone!! It's been a while, been vacationing in HK and neglecting this blog *ashamed* Here's a quick and easy dessert I first had in Macau :) Hope you all enjoy it during the lazy hot summer! ^^

Ingredients:
1 cup Whipping cream
80g    Marie biscuits (I don't actually know how much I used, I just have a container of crushed biscuits to use haha)
4 tsp  Condensed milk (Add to taste, some people like it more sweet, some prefer less)
1 tsp  Vanilla (I forgot to add it on my first try, but it turned out ok ^^)
(and gelatin, instructions at the bottom of the page!)

Suggested Utensils:
Large bowl
Measuring spoons and cup
Food processor/blender
Rolling pin
Cookie sheet
Sifter (for a more even sprinkling of biscuits)
Small spoon (for spooning the whipping cream into cups)
Little cups/ container of choice for the Serradura

Directions:

1. Crush the Marie biscuits!!-- you can use a food processor first though xD

I'm a bit OCD, and like them very finely crushed, so after a bit, I started using a rolling pin :)

2. In a large bowl, whip the whipping cream until thick (not standing peaks yet!)
Then add condensed milk and vanilla and gelatin**, continue whipping until SOFT peaks form.

3. Sprinkle a layer of biscuit crumbs onto bottom of container.
(about 1-2mm thick is fine, too much makes the pudding too dry!)

4. Add layer of whipped cream. (You can place the whipped cream
in a piper and squeeze it in, I just used a small spoon)

5. Continue layering until you reach the top, then place in
freezer for ~2 hrs, then bring out to soften before serving :)
Annnd you're done! Enjoy :D

**Actually, I tried again with some gelatin to make the whipped cream a little harder, and it worked out better. Depends on preference of texture I guess :) If you want to use gelatin, use . . .

1 tsp    Gelatin
2 tbsp  water
500mL Whipping cream

1. In a microwavable container, put in water and sprinkle gelatin over top.
2. Let gelatin sit for about 5 minutes.
3. Microwave for 15 seconds (or until it melts).
4. Let cool (but not harden!).
5. Add to half-whipped whipping cream.

Hope you enjoy this simple delight! ^^
