Sushi Town, Coquitlam: Re-vamped and ready for competition!

Really wanting sushi, my mother and I decided to visit Sushi Town, since we haven't been here in a while. And wow. Who knew they underwent major renovations?? It looks much classier than before, a great improvement for sure.

Very happy with the super positive and friendly staff team. I understand it was super busy so it was hard to flag one down, but they constantly refilled our tea and had a smile on their face =) Team dynamics seems to be very good.

Anyhoooo. Food =D Awesome Roll ($6.95) was decent. I felt it was too much imitation crab, but the flavors were bursting and the little kick of spicy was perfect.

Sushi size is similar to other chain restaurants of its kind. Salmon Nigiri ($1.20) was fresh but the rice was a bit big for my liking. Chopped Scallop Nigiri ($1.35) had very chopped up scallops, but not to the point of being grounded, so still decent. There was a lot of scallops too =)

Now the Salmon Roll ($2.00) was a bit disappointing. The fish didn't seem extremely fresh and was quite ground up. I dislike having fish puree for my maki's thank you very much.

Finally, our Rainbow Roll ($5.95) arrived. I was surprised at the cheap price, hence why it was ordered. I forgot they used a tamago (egg) based roll, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I would've a California-roll based. Very rainbow indeed, it contained quite a variety of toppings (although the avocado looked a bit mangled). Ingredients were very fresh, and the overall roll was appealing. Toppings weren't placed well on the roll though, stuff fell off too easily.

I was quite surprised by the renovations, proves how long its been since I last visited! Happy with my experience, and since Oyama has been going downhill, I'm glad Sushi Town has improved. Will switch over for now =P hehehehehe
