I ordered it for pick up at around 5pm, but got a bit delayed, so I called ahead around 4 to let them know I was going to be late, set it up for 6:30 instead. Sadly, I just couldn't make it at that time, so called them again, and got a rather annoyed lady (ok, this is my fault) who told me my sushi was made already, I had called before, and then silence. I didn't know what to do, so I told her I'll try to get there ASAP, and got a "Ok then, bye *phone clicks*" reply. Maybe they're just really busy, and I was being a bit annoying, so I deserved it.
Finally home for the feast! The rolls were really big. I wasn't disappointed at all. The quality... not so good. Don't get me wrong, it was all very fresh except for the scallop, which was a bit mushy, it's just that there was so much rice I got full after about three rolls haha!
The rice was also packed a bit hard together, so it was really solid.
I wanted to try something different and ordered the Pressed Sushi- Smoke Salmon ($7.50).
It was really pressed xD SO SOLID to the point the rice was mushed. Not recommended.
Golden roll ($4.95) was a chopped scallop roll topped with smoked salmon. It was decent, size wasn't that big, and the scallops weren't in the right sized chunks I would've liked to see.
The California roll ($3.25) was your typical roll supersized. Nothing special about it, a bit too much rice IMO, but good size, and I liked how they had masago in the middle and seasame on the outside-- best of both worlds? xD Avocado was a bit unripe though.
Salmon Maki ($2.20) is like a must-have for me. I love them! And Samurai didn't disappoint with this one. The salmon was fresh and the rice was a good proportion. Overall size wasn't that much of a difference, but you know, for $2.20, what do you expect?
The other good thing, I must say, is the House Roll (half for $5.50, full for $10.50). It was GINORMOUS. Seriously. A bit hard to get without it falling apart first, but the ingredients were fresh and this thing was big! Look at it on my plate! Its like 3" in diameter! xD Yummyyyy
Then we got salmon sushi ($1.15), to try their variety. They were big too! And the piece of fish matched the upsizing of the rice, which was good. They weren't cheaping out on fish =) Fresh fish too, cuz it wasn't mushy nor fishy.
I also had to try a chopped scallop nigiri ($1.65), since I love chopped scallop as well! This was a bit disappointing, but I guess it might've been me getting there late and having to bring this home too. So the seaweed was soggy =( *no pic cuz I was so hungry I just gobbled it up before I remembered to take a pic >w<*
Overall a good dinner at a decent price =)
