Munchie Adventure: Torarenbo Japanese Restaurant 虎連坊, Richmond

Date with JW! Couldn't quite decide upon a destination, since we didn't want to eat too much, so ended up here, which was nearby!

We were seated quickly by a friendly waitress, and tea was brought to us in a timely manner (yay!). Took a while to decide what to get, since I really wanted to try EVERYTHING. Anyhow, JW got their Zaru Soba ($5.95) and it was a GIANT portion. First time seeing it served with a quail egg, but nonetheless, she said it was good. I felt it was quite typical, nothing amazing about it.

I ordered a Sushi Lunch ($10.50), which I found offered a wide variety of their menu items, so I got to try a bit of everything =) Udon was frozen udon, which was very chewy and good. Salad was surprising too, I liked it because of the variety (not just your typical iceberg lettuce salad). Tempura was a bit oily, but two shrimps! =D Sushi was a meh. Didn't stand out to me, a bit subpar compared to the rest of the stuff. Fruits were a nice touch ^-^

Feeling a bit greedy, we also decided to split a Chicken Karaage ($5.75), which was very fresh and juicy. Besides it being oily, the batter was very thin and well-seasoned.

I was a bit worried when we first walked in to this semi-empty restaurant, but I'm glad we stayed. I enjoyed my meal and may come back to try their specialty rolls someday =)
