Munchie Adventure: Sushi Garden, Burnaby

Popped in here since it's nearby and on the way to our next destination. It was pretty full when we first walked in, they told us around 25 minute wait, and it wasn't actually that long of a wait. This reminded me of Sushi Town, very similar set up and vibe. Saw lots of take-out orders. AND! Best part? I love their faucet in the washroom!!! =D

I've actually heard many good things about Sushi Garden, and seeing the lineup made me feel good about it. However... I got over-hyped again, and was disappointed. Anyways, I did try some of AL's Agedashi Tofu, but found the tofu quite tough, didn't like it that much. I ordered a Tako Yaki ($3.75) and it wasn't bad, not extremely hot, but taste was good and it was crispy on the outside.

I liked how the sushi came on individual platter, quite cute. I got two Salmon nigiri ($1.20 each), and the rice was WARM *minus points* Fish was fresh, but it's a pet peeve of mines when I get warm sushi rice ><"

I also ordered Salmon roll ($1.95) which was well done, the fish was very fresh and the rice-to-fish ratio was good. My Chopped Scallop Roll ($3.75) also had warm rice, but the scallops were fresh and tasted good, so I guess it gets neutral feelings.

Overall, food came quickly and service wasn't bad, they were quite quick with everything (hence I understand their high turnover rate and ease of getting a table without waiting for an insane amount of time). I may come back, but it's out of my way and I'd rather try another place first.

Munchie Adventure: BCIT Campus Cafe SE12 Featuring Tim Hortons, Burnaby

After a rather long and boring library orientation (it did have some useful info but not a lot), I was FAMISHED. A friend once told me about the all-day breakfast offered at the Campus Cafe grill, so I went to try!

I ordered from their breakfast menu (I forgot the name already.. but it's the only option with pancakes), and the girl working there was pretty friendly. In my phobia (so much norwalk around nowadays, can't afford to get sick!), I got scrambled eggs, and chose the sausages-- didn't look like they had ham and the bacon looked... weird.

It came in a BIG box, and I was quite happy with that, since it cost me around $6.50. The hashbrowns were very yummy, so crispy on the outside and the potato inside was fluffy and moist. Sausages and eggs were your average breakfast sausages and scrambled eggs, nothing special. I liked their pancakes, it was very fluffy and chewy. It also didn't give me that rough "after feel" in my mouth that I usually get from pancakes (probably from the baking soda). She was very nice and gave us containers for the syrup too, so we didn't have to have sweet everything =P

Not sure why its rated so low, cuz I enjoyed my food and would come back again-- or maybe I just posted this under the wrong campus cafe? Just a clarification, this is the grill area right beside Tim Hortons in SE 12 at the Burnaby BCIT Campus ^-^

Who Truly Loves You

I found this a while ago, and I felt it was quite interesting to ponder about~~ Not that I agree with everything, but before we lose someone who truly loves us in our lives, lets try to notice these people. Don't have so many regrets in life, its not worth it. Don't have so many wants in life, it only makes you unhappy. Don't have so many complaints, isn't it better to be thankful?

**I think they use "lover" with the idea that it's more casual and not as serious as someone who truly loves you? Not 100% sure xD**

Your average lover**, will be mesmerized by your smile.
Someone who truly loves you, will be especially sensitive to your furrowed brows.

Your average lover, at best will listen to your troubles.
Someone who truly loves you, will actively try to help you solve your troubles.

Your average lover, has a habit of bringing you to eat their favorite foods.
Someone who truly loves you, will make your favorite foods themselves.

Your average lover, will constantly wait for your phone call or invites.
Someone who truly loves you, will constantly want to call you.

Your average lover, will dislike it when you call them while they are asleep.
Someone who truly loves you, will ask you why you're calling them now.

Your average lover, will always wish you happiness.
Someone who truly loves you, will always think about how to give you happiness.

Your average lover, hopes that you will change for them.
Someone who truly loves you, hopes that he/she may change for you.

Your average lover, will question why you let them be sad
Someone who truly loves you, will question him/herself why he/she let you be sad.

Your average lover, will frequently think of what caused the rifts.
Someone who truly loves you, will frequently consider how to fix the rifts.

Your average lover, at most will see how much he/she has done for you.
Someone who truly loves you, will see all the things you've done for him/her.

Your average lover, will believe that your love has ended after an argument.
Someone who truly loves you, will understand that true love undergoes and can withstand the trials of arguments.

Your average lover, expects you will stay by his/her side forever.
Someone who truly loves you, desires to stay by your side forever!

So open your eyes to those around you and see who truly is there for you! Cherish every moment with them! Cherish THEM. (Sorry about the bad translation, it's written much more beautifully in Chinese ^^")

Munchie Adventure: Jimoco Cafe & Pasta, Coquitlam

AH suggested this restaurant for us to try out for our little get-together, and it looked really good online in reviews! Everyone seemed to rave on and on about it, so we all were excited to try! I got there first, actually drove by first, and OH MY GOSH. There were like 15 people standing at the door, and the store looked TINY!! ><"

So I didn't know I had to put my name down with the waitress at the back of the store... so was set back by one table =( she told me 30-45 min wait... which ended up to be the sum of those. We were seated close to 8 (when I had arrived at 6:30). Better be worth the wait!

Sorry for the picture quality in advance, it was dimly lit in there, and my phone doesn't have the best camera =(

First we were started off with some garlic bread, we were so famished, even though it was cold and not very good, I still gobbled it down xD

We ordered off the 2 for 1 menu, since it seemed like the best deal =) AH and I ordered their Soul Linguine ($16.95), and it came in a cool hot bowl =D Taste and texture was good, would've liked it more if the squid were in slightly larger pieces, or in those fun rings-- the little bits just didn't work with me. There were 3 shrimps, 2 mussels, two clams, some scallops, and a bunch of squid bits. Lots of sauce, and we asked them for a "less spice" version, and it wasn't spicy at all.

CM ordered their Penne verde (16.95) in tomato sauce. She said it was very bland, and I tried some, and indeed, it was all just tomato flavor, no salt flavor almost. Maybe they forgot, but on the bright side, she isn't consuming as much salt, which is healthy? =) Looked like it was packed with veggies though!

CL ordered the Linguine alle vongole ($16.95), and she also reported it was quite bland. Looked like there were lots of clams though, so she just showered the whole pasta dish with lots of Parmesan cheese which was on the side of the table.

Overall, I'm not quite convinced it's worth the 75ish minute wait, and honestly, not as amazing as the reviews make it seem. I mean, it's quite a good deal seemingly, and half of our table felt the pasta was tasty, but they portions were average sized (everyone finished their dish except for me xD). They're always big for me, but I'm pretty sure, a guy wouldn't be full from this. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful though! Parking is not good, there's two spots in the back, and a few in the front shared with all the other shops. Free 4 hr parking behind Safeway, but SO COLD to walk back to our cars xD
